A POSTMODERN/RHETORICAL ADVENTURE THROUGH THE GOSPEL OF JOHN IN SHAKESPEAREAN SONNET FORM

GOSPEL OF BOKE {89 of 154} -- by BOKE (duh!)

{GOB_89_01}   THE BORDER OF THE WILDERNESS / THE TOWN

{GOB_89_02}   OF EPHRIAM (where's nothing's going on)

{GOB_89_03}   Christ and Disciples rest // WHILE (farther down

{GOB_89_04}   south) IN JERUSALEM (so says Saint John) ...

{GOB_89_05}   ... THOSE PESKY JEWS are plotting evil deeds.

{GOB_89_06}   [OK. They are the ' VILLAINS ' in this tale.

{GOB_89_07}   You've got to have some villains or it reads

{GOB_89_08}   as dull as dirt: A ' Moby ' with no whale.]

{GOB_89_09}   PASSOVER FEAST was near at hand and so

{GOB_89_10}   Jerusalem was where good Jews would head

{GOB_89_11}   to purify themselves / Some "Tallyho!"

{GOB_89_12}   the hunt for Jesus / "Catch him, then he's dead!"

{GOB_89_13}   [BUT keep in mind SOMEBODY had to play

{GOB_89_14}   THE VILLAIN -- else no resurrection day.]

GOSPEL OF BOKE {90 of 154} -- by BOKE (duh!)

{GOB_90_01}   GOD SAYS He will not comment on this FRAME

{GOB_90_02}   that Boke's postmodern telling has prescribed

{GOB_90_03}   around the action of this gospel game.

{GOB_90_04}   RULE ONE: Man's freedom will not be proscribed.

{GOB_90_05}   JERUSALEM/THE TEMPLE... VILLAINS TALK:

{GOB_90_06}   "Will Jesus not show for the feast?" / "D'you think?"

{GOB_90_07}   The power leak He's caused they'd have to caulk.

{GOB_90_08}   [A missing line inspires a monkey-wink!]

{GOB_90_09}   Too many were believing Jesus' lines

{GOB_90_10}   of thought subverting "EVERYBODY KNOWS"

{GOB_90_11}   (which mixed with "SOCIAL STATUS" text defines

{GOB_90_12}   if you CONTROL interpretation so's ...

{GOB_90_13}   ... you keep "THE PEOPLE" tightly in a box.)

{GOB_90_14}   SO TALLYHO! We'll catch that Jesus fox!

GOSPEL OF BOKE {91 of 154} -- by BOKE (duh!)

{GOB_91_01}   IN BETHANY / SIX DAYS BEFORE THE FEAST

{GOB_91_02}   OF PASSOVER ... The Laz'rus family

{GOB_91_03}   is serving Jesus supper / WHEN the yeast

{GOB_91_04}   of UNEXPECTED GESTURE's melody ...

{GOB_91_05}   ... gives rise to sour notes from Judas' horn.

{GOB_91_06}   The gesture? / Laz'rus' sister MARY POURS

{GOB_91_07}   EXPENSIVE OINTMENT ON CHRIST'S HEAD -- Him born

{GOB_91_08}   for sacrifice to open up the doors ...

{GOB_91_09}   ... of heaven for the folks not always right

{GOB_91_10}   according to "the rules" men have nailed down

{GOB_91_11}   so brutally there was no hope in sight.

{GOB_91_12}   BAD JUDAS YELLS: "A waste for her to crown ...

{GOB_91_13}   ... Him with fine ointment / when she could have sold

{GOB_91_14}   it / and fed hungry children with the gold."

GOSPEL OF BOKE {92 of 154} -- by BOKE (duh!)

{GOB_92_01}   "LET HER ALONE," says JESUS, "For the day

{GOB_92_02}   of [Jesus'] burial has she kept this.

{GOB_92_03}   The poor ye always have with you / My stay

{GOB_92_04}   is not much longer" / (Soon a Judas kiss.)

{GOB_92_05}   NEXT DAY/JERUSALEM... When ' MUCH ' had heard

{GOB_92_06}   [King James' word choice for ' MANY ' ] Jesus was

{GOB_92_07}   on his way to the feast, THEY ran/transferred

{GOB_92_08}   palm branches to the streets and shout hazzahs! ...

{GOB_92_09}   ... [iambic for ' hosannahs '] "Bless-ed King

{GOB_92_10}   of Israel that cometh in the name

{GOB_92_11}   of God!" // AND WHEN Christ/Jesus heard them sing,

{GOB_92_12}   He found a sweet/young ass to ride and came ...

{GOB_92_13}   ... (as it was written) through THE CROWD that praised

{GOB_92_14}   him 'cause from-death-to-life he'd Laz'rus raised.

GOSPEL OF BOKE {93 of 154} -- by BOKE (duh!)

{GOB_93_01}   CHRIST'S MIRACLE WAS FAMOUS / thus was He.

{GOB_93_02}   OF COURSE, our ' VILLAINS ' were completely ticked!

{GOB_93_03}   In their own pan of juice each Pharisee

{GOB_93_04}   was furious: ' The whole world ' had been tricked ...

{GOB_93_05}   ... by Jesus' grave-stone-rolling miracle.

{GOB_93_06}   THE WORLD / THE PEOPLE / EASILY MISLED

{GOB_93_07}   BY smoke-and-mirrors / They must now annul

{GOB_93_08}   by planting crown of thorns upon His head.

{GOB_93_09}   BUT ROME NOW OWNED THE LAW, SO they must find

{GOB_93_10}   a path amongst the Romans' "AS THINGS ARE"

{GOB_93_11}   / a way to make sure justice will be blind

{GOB_93_12}   / to guarantee the killing of a star.

{GOB_93_13}   Christ's popularity must be re-bent

{GOB_93_14}   from "Hail the King!" / to "Satan's belly lint!"

GOSPEL OF BOKE {94 of 154} -- by BOKE (duh!)

{GOB_94_01}   REPLAY THE FRAGMENT "JESUS WEPT" / A LOOP:

{GOB_94_02}   HE WEPT BECAUSE his closest lacked belief.

{GOB_94_03}   HE WEPT BECAUSE The Jews must play the poop-

{GOB_94_04}   head villains in the story / AND the grief ...

{GOB_94_05}   ... from not quite seeing totally THE WHY/

{GOB_94_06}   THE STORY gave no option but His death

{GOB_94_07}   as resolution / In his human eye

{GOB_94_08}   (which he was forced to use when he drew breath) ...

{GOB_94_09}   ... it seemed that this game's rules were mis-designed.

{GOB_94_10}   ["WHICH GAME IS THAT?" says God to Boke who's hung

{GOB_94_11}   in quatrain number three / and underlined

{GOB_94_12}   ' a God Game ' in the New York Times / and flung ...

{GOB_94_13}   ... his legal pad across the room to test

{GOB_94_14}   if God will place it back upon his chest. {>>>}

GOSPEL OF BOKE {95 of 154} -- by BOKE (duh!)

{GOB_95_01}   "THOU SHALT NOT TEST THE LORD THY GOD," says He

{GOB_95_02}   who wrote that line two thousand years ago

{GOB_95_03}   in other gospels St John did not see

{GOB_95_04}   completely eye-to-eye with. // DID YOU KNOW ...

{GOB_95_05}   ... that ONLY JOHN INCLUDES The Laz'rus Scene?

{GOB_95_06}   THE "Jesus wept" ? THE TURNING POINT so huge

{GOB_95_07}   in Boke's postmodern gospel [where Cow's preen

{GOB_95_08}   and Paris Hilton's bottom's sporting rouge].

{GOB_95_09}   AS FOR THOSE 40 days the devil'd test

{GOB_95_10}   Christ in the wilderness -- John didn't care!

{GOB_95_11}   THE GOSPEL GAME is choosing what gets stressed

{GOB_95_12}   while -- given all you know -- you keep it FAIR.

{GOB_95_13}   THE WEIGHT OF TRUTH must somehow BALANCE out

{GOB_95_14}   the swings the teller makes along his route.

GOSPEL OF BOKE {96 of 154} -- by BOKE (duh!)

{GOB_96_01}   WHY JOHN? / Not Matthew, Luke, or Mark? / Have we

{GOB_96_02}   already covered this? / Too many days

{GOB_96_03}   run all together / trying hard to see

{GOB_96_04}   where we are flowing through this sonnet maze ...

{GOB_96_05}   ... of unknown turns revealed the moment when

{GOB_96_06}   you come upon them / only when they're right

{GOB_96_07}   in front of you / and one choice will begin

{GOB_96_08}   a new trajectory into the light ...

{GOB_96_09}   ... or some dark tunnel / groping for a switch

{GOB_96_10}   that opens up the roof /and we shriek "WOW

{GOB_96_11}   I didn't know that!" / OR, fall in a ditch ...

{GOB_96_12}   [This line was eaten by a purple cow!]

{GOB_96_13}   ... where even fearless Monkey-bots will balk.

{GOB_96_14}   A blackboard's pretty useless without chalk.

GOSPEL OF BOKE {97 of 154} -- by BOKE (duh!)

{GOB_97_01}   OH, YOU HAVE CHALK, says God, but are afraid

{GOB_97_02}   to push on into darkness / You don't trust

{GOB_97_03}   I'm really on your side / That plans I've made

{GOB_97_04}   include "a happy ending" 'fore you're dust / ...

{GOB_97_05}   / ... or fear that too much thinking has dissolved

{GOB_97_06}   / the delicate suspension of faith's strands

{GOB_97_07}   / amidst your knowledge matrix that's evolved

{GOB_97_08}   / into a web nobody understands ...

{GOB_97_09}   /... but Sweet Cow and some literary moll

{GOB_97_10}   / or Chinese Monkey-bot on Saturday!

{GOB_97_11}   / There is no Forty-Seventh Protocol

{GOB_97_12}   / for tunnel'd vision prophets who must weigh ...

{GOB_97_13}   / ... the dangers of proceeding to the end

{GOB_97_14}   / when you might lose your faith ... around the bend.

GOSPEL OF BOKE {98 of 154} -- by BOKE (duh!)

{GOB_98_01}   WHILE SWEET COW'S helping Lost-Boke pull a tooth

{GOB_98_02}   out of his belly button ... // GOD PLAYS CHESS

{GOB_98_03}   WITH SATAN IN A SWAT-BOKE CAFE BOOTH:

{GOB_98_04}   These 8-by-8 squares pleasantly compress ..

{GOB_98_05}   ... the choices down to just a zillion paths.

{GOB_98_06}   GOD knows that he will win // but SATAN says

{GOB_98_07}   there is a flaw within the God Game maths

{GOB_98_08}   he found that guarantees the final res ...

{GOB_98_09}   ... is not what God expects // Of course, he lies

{GOB_98_10}   sometimes / but ALWAYS bullshits -- which leaves room

{GOB_98_11}   that maybe it's the truth. // Which God denies

{GOB_98_12}   and warns that if you buy that ... HERE COMES DOOM!

{GOB_98_13}   "OUCH OUCH!" yells Boke as Sweet Cow yanks that tooth

{GOB_98_14}   out of Boke's belly button: Such is truth!

GOSPEL OF BOKE {99 of 154} -- by BOKE (duh!)

{GOB_99_01}   A WORMHOLE OPENS UP / CHRIST'S VOICE FLOATS IN ...

{GOB_99_02}   "Cast your net on the right side of the boat

{GOB_99_03}   and ye shall find." // THE WORMHOLE'S GONE AGAIN

{GOB_99_04}   "Which is the right side, God?" a monkey wrote, ...

{GOB_99_05}   ... "And I don't have a boat," he monkeyshines,

{GOB_99_06}   "just this space-flying-saucer with no net,

{GOB_99_07}   since fish is not on what a monkey dines.

{GOB_99_08}   Bananas are what all good monkeys get ...

{GOB_99_09}   ... except for Christmas dinner when Chinese

{GOB_99_10}   girls give them choc'late pudding / Nanjing wines! /

{GOB_99_11}   and pull their ears if they fail to appease

{GOB_99_12}   the Monkey-God by making monkey-signs ...

{GOB_99_13}   ... which only monkeys know just what they mean."

{GOB_99_14}   (But we are pretty sure they're all obscene.)
